At week 32 your baby is practising breathing, and many have turned head down.
Your baby this week
- Breathing practice
- Your baby moves their chest as if breathing, using the fluid around them.
- Nails
- Toenails and fingernails have grown.
- Position
- Many babies are head down by now, though there's still time to turn.
What you might notice
- Movement that changes in feel, with more rolls and stretches, but not less of it.
- Pressure low in your pelvis.
- Heartburn and indigestion.
- Needing to pee often and leaking a little when you cough or laugh.
Call your midwife, doctor or maternity unit today if
- Your face, hands or feet swell suddenly, or you have a bad headache or blurred vision
- You have bleeding, fluid leaking, or regular tightenings or period-like cramps
- Your baby's movements have slowed down or changed
- You have strong itching, especially on your hands and feet
Any time of day or night. You will never be a nuisance for calling.
Coming up
Your provider may check which way your baby is lying.
Have your bag packed. Hospital bag checklist.
Questions to bring to your next appointment
- Which way is my baby lying, and what happens if they're breech?
- What should my birth plan include?
- How do I know if my waters have broken?
For your partner
Reduced movement is never explained by running out of room. If movements slow down, call straight away, day or night.
